| You know you're from British Columbia when... |
[Oct. 12th, 2004|01:11 pm] |
You Know You're From British Columbia When... |
You know the provincial flower
You consider that if it has no snow, it is not a real mountain.
You can taste the difference between Starbucks, Blendz, and Tim Horton's.
You know how to pronounce Squamish, Osoyoos & Nanaimo.
You can tell the difference between Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Thai food.
In winter, you go to work in the dark and come home in the dark - while only working eight-hour days.
You have no concept of humidity without precipitation.
You know that Dawson Creek is a town, not a TV show.
You can point to at least two ski mountains, even if you cannot see through the cloud cover.
You notice "the mountain is out" when it is a pretty day and you can actually see it.
You put on your shorts when the temperature gets above 5, but still wear your hiking boots and parka.
You switch to your sandals when it gets about 10, but keep the socks on.
You recognize the background shots in your favourite movies & TV shows.
You buy new sunglasses every year, because you can't find the old ones after such a long time.
You use a down comforter in the summer.
The local hero is a pot-smoking snowboarder
The local wine doesn't taste like malt vinegar
Your $400,000 Vancouver home is 5 hours from downtown
You can throw a rock and hit three Starbucks locations
You've been to a deforestation protest
If a cop pulls you over, just offer them some of your hash
It's November, it's raining, but you're still wearing birkenstocks
You go broke just paying rent.
You don't own a heavy winter coat
You can't figure out why Manitoba is considered part of Western Canada.
You wouldn't be caught dead on Vancouver Island or Vancouver without your umbrella and plastic shoes.
You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from British Columbia.

I am sad to inform you that i will no longer be visiting your place of residence. It has come to my attention that in the last 3 years of our solid relationship, you have done nothing except keep me awake. And when we are apart, i develop a headache just thinking about you, and my body aches and grows tiresome waiting for your presence to show. I have even gone to the point of catching the sniffles three times more than usual.
I am sorry it has to come to this, but if i am to look forward to a good and healthy future, we must part paths now. I will always remember those wonderful early morning visits, and those amazing late night chats. Thank you.
Sincerely, krynn |

my nephew gave me a cold. sick for the first 2 days of my cycle. i'm just glad it didn't develop into my 2 1/2 week asthma cold. feeling much better today.
well.. no more Amazing Race to be hooked on. what great television shows do we have this season? CSI is back! i missed the 2nd episode of this season.. i'm CHOKED!! oh well. hopefully i'll catch it during reruns. CSI NY is okay. nothing compares to the original. This series is a lot darker and has twice the drama as well.
There is another show besides CSI that i cannot miss :) LOST. the Pilot was amazing, and the actors are unbelievably talented. especially evangeline lilly (another great canadian actor). and, i can't wait til Battlestar Galactica starts up in January. Lucky brits get to watch the series ahead of us starting 2 weeks from now. |

| Kelowna and Banff |
[Sep. 3rd, 2004|12:51 pm] |
Kelowna was amazing. The 2 wineries we visted were Summerhill and Mission Hill. I recommend visiting both of these cuz of their special qualities. Summerhill has a real pyramid where they age their wine. Its aligned directly to the North Star, plus they have the best sparkling wine i've ever tasted. Mission Hill has such amazing architecture for all their buildings, and their underground cellar was pretty neat to see. Rick and i also did a little pitch and putt on natural green before heading out to Banff.
We've had rain pretty much most of Kelowna, so the drive enroute to Banff was just as bad. Infact it felt worse cuz you're driving through towering mountains on slippery and curvy roads. not fun.
We stayed at the Best Western in Canmore, and its definitely the 'BEST' motel/hotel i've ever stayed at. Canmore is 20min east of Banff, so i highly recommend staying their, otherwise you'll be forking out $200+ staying in banff. We visited Lake Louise of course. Its soo beautiful and acidic ;) Woudln't catch me swimming in that lake thats for sure. |

| | the soft whirring noise of ricks computer | ] | So most of you probably wondering what has happened to me this week. i haven't been on msn or in contact with anyone. well the reason is that Rick and I decided to just leave everything behind and get out of van for a bit ;)
We rented a car and drove down to Portland, Oregon on Sunday and arrived back early this evening. whats there to do when the weather is shiitee. Well it wasn't that bad. light rain and drizzle only. i'm sure not as bad as lowermainland and the island. So it was all good. Monday we walked most of downtown, hopped on the Fareless Transit, and went to 2 of the shopping centres. One of them had an ice rink in it!!! so cool. don't mind the pun. Saw the Japanese Gardens (very kickas.) on Tuesday. Also went and took pics by a several waterfalls, the main one being Multnomah Falls which was 2nd highest in usa (about 650ft). Today on our drive back we planned on visiting Mt St. Helens, but overcast 'rained' us out. So definitely soemthing to look forward to next time.
Tomorrow (thrs) i have a wedding to attend, and maybe later that day we'll head out on our second roadtrip towards Banff, dropping by Kelowna and or Kamloops on the way. I will update again soon after that :)
In the mean time, hope everyone enjoys the rest of summer! |

| | Avril Lavigne "Don't Tell Me" on Z95.3 | ] | Ooohh.. Nice.
So i dropped rick off at yvr this morning for his trip to yyz. And on my way back, Z95.3 (radio station) announced which Chevron they were on location. The first 95 people would receive $10 Free Gas and complimentary coffee and paper. So i was lucky enough to be in the exact area when they announced it. What a great way to start off the weekend (even though i'm working) :) |

| over due LJ... |
[Jul. 28th, 2004|01:12 am] |
| [ | Current Mood |
| | calm | ] | This LJ is long overdue. I guess its time to update ;) i must be getting lazy.
So i had an excellent time with my island freakish friends that visited over the weekend. We had some delicious home made cinnimon buns from JP. On Saturday, we took our time venturing out into the city. wasn't til 4pm before we got to our first destination, IKEA! Rick and i spent a whole $2.27. we bought a shoe horn and a tiny stuffed animal that i couldn't resist. oh right.. and then a few more dollars spent on snacks (hotdogs and drinks). We took a trip up to Lynn Valley Canyon. a lot more people than i expected, otherwise it was good. and then a late Greek Dinner.
Sunday was not as hot out. We dropped by metrotown playdium. Saw 2 girls playing DDR (dance dance revolution) and one of the girls had 1500 combos on extreme difficulty setting. Craziness.
What else.. I watched I,Robot. A great scifi action movie. When i think and analyze this movie, it reminds me of 'Pre-Matrix'. If you have watched it, i'd love to go in more depth with it. I,Robot was also filmed here, which makes it even more entertaining trying to spot the locations. Plus Aaron Douglas had a few short scenes :) glad to see him make it to the big screen. Aaron, I hear you're such a down to earth guy ;) You totally deserve more screen time!!
I wasn't planning on doing this today, but i couldn't help myself. I really wanted to watch The Bourne Supremacy, but Rick wasn't able to join me, and none of my friends were available either. so i said what the hell, and watched by myself this afternoon. Its not really a big deal. Anyway, the movie was fast paced (almost completely opposite to the bourne identity). very good entertainment.
My VW Jetta is still running... hopfullly no more breakdowns. I'm still hunting for a new car. maybe a Toyota or Mazda this time.. we'll see. |

| should not be a loss, but a celebration of her life. |
[Jun. 20th, 2004|11:03 pm] |
Last week my grandma passed away. she was 87. I'm happy that her suffering is now over, and she can join my grandpa. Lum po, rest in peace, love you.
I've had little rest during my days off from work. I've been busy working for mum at her store. and since she does own a flowershop, there were a lot of arrangements to make for the funeral. physically and emotionally tiring.
--- Change of topic: you know its summer when...
- mosquitos are finding their way into your house and sucking your sweet blood :| i'm so ITCHY!!!
- spider eggs hatch and begin making webs throughout your entire house!! GROSS. i'm REALLY grossed out right now because i think there's a spider egg somewhere near my bed (window sill) that has hatched. i saw a baby spider attached from the ceiling to my head!! squashed that one, along with 5 other baby spiders crawling by the window. ahh! 6 and counting!! it just floated across my computer screen. NO JOKE. |
